Want to do something good?

Ever notice how you feel good when you encourage someone. Recently, I was at the grocery store and I asked the clerk if he was still in school pursuing nursing. I think he was surprised that I remembered that he was in school. I don't shop there often, but I did recall months earlier that he had mentioned wanting to start nursing school. It was great that my brain remembered that he was in school. He mentioned that he started out fine, but now was discouraged about his studies. I mentioned the words of advice that my husband gave me just days before, "[success] didn't happen overnight, it happened one step-at-a-time. Why did I give this young student/grocery store attendant this advice? Was I an officious intermeddler, or was I really trying to encourage? As he took my grocery cart, he thanked me for the encouraging advice. I entered my car and noticed I had a smile on my face. It's nice to be kind.

Hi, Lyn! I love your story. Thank you for being such a sweet sister, auntie,(to the whole "guy crew") and for being my friend! I truly believe in the importance of what you shared. Everyday is a gift. Sharing it with others by encouraging them is so vital. Dan and I saw the movie,"Into the Wilderness" the other day, and at the end there was something that the character wrote in his diary that really struck a chord with us. It was similiar to this, "Happiness is not complete unless it is shared."

Love your sister, Marlene
